Black tea linked to reduced ovarian cancer

According to latest research from America, black tea has been found to reduce the possible risk of ovarian cancer. The study which was carried out with 414 subjects, found that women drinking two or more cups of black tea a day had a 30% reduction in risk of ovarian cancer.  

Commenting on this latest research, Dr Catherine Hood from the Tea Advisory Panel notes: “This latest research data from America is great news for all tea drinkers. The findings are also supported by a Swedish study, where data has demonstrated that black tea could have a protective effect in ovarian cancer.  

Dr Hood adds: “This Swedish study, which involved over 61,000 women, found that women who drank two or more cups of tea a day had a 46% reduced risk of ovarian cancer compared with women who never or seldom drank tea.

"Each additional cup of tea was associated with an 18% lower risk of ovarian cancer, indicating that tea consumption may be associated with reduced risk of ovarian cancer in a dose-dependent manner. "
