Dementia exercise pilot launched

A unique exercise programme has been revealed by researchers which could combat the effects of dementia.

Researchers from the University Campus Suffolk (UCS) claim the programme could promote physical health but also incorporates cognitive features for mental health

The pilot study will be rolled out in care homes and Dementia Cafes across Suffolk, in accosiation with the Norfolk and Suffolk Dementia Alliance, and Suffolk Sport.

Professor Brendon Noble, Head of technology and health at UCS, said: "This important pilot study has the potential to change the way that we deal with dementia in the community and has the benefit if including carers in pleasant activities.

“It aligns well with… recent news that more needs to be done to consider those in our communities with dementia.”

Dementia affects nearly 800,000 people in the UK
