General practice nurse toolkit relaunched

The general practice nurse (GPN) toolkit, originally developed over two years by the Working in Partnership Programme (WiPP) in collaboration with Staffordshire University, is now available on the Royal College of Nursing's website.

The toolkit is a concise set of documents containing information and references that will enable you to highlight good practice in relation to GPNs in the following areas:

  • Employment practice.
  • Education and professional development.
  • Competence.
  • Integration with the wider community healthcare workforce.
  • Career development.
  • Quality improvement and evaluating practice.

Lynn Young, RCN primary care adviser and Nursing in Practice columnist, said:

"The RCN is delighted to have the WiPP GPN toolkit on its website, thus enabling this wonderful resource to be freely accessible to people wishing to improve the employment and professional development of general practice nursing."

The toolkit is available at www.rcn.org.uk/gpntoolkit
