Shot in the arm for NHS homebuyers

Shot in the arm for NHS homebuyers

NHS staff should register interest as soon as possible for the Government's £300 million 'HomeBuy Direct' scheme, suggests NHS Mortgage Services, part of NHS Discounts.

Details about the equity loan scheme, which is aimed at first time buyers, should come in "thick and fast over the ensuing weeks and months" says Chris Heather, Chief Executive Officer for NHS Discounts. "The Government has made it clear that these loans will be allocated on a first come, first served basis."

The scheme was announced this week as part of a package of measures alongside the increase in stamp duty threshold.

NHS Discounts is offering countrywide seminars to explain the implications of the package and NHS Trusts can book these on 0845 122 2014.

NHS employees can also register their interest at NHS Discounts to receive regular updates and advice.
