Six women from across the healthcare sector were celebrated today in Women’s Hour’s Power List 2013.
A showcase of the top 100 most powerful women in the UK, the list compiled by the BBC put chief medical officer (CMO) Professor Dame Sally Davies at number 6.
England’s first female CMO guides government decisions on topics like obesity and drug trials and is a haematologist by training.
With a budget of £1 million, Professor Dame Davies developed the National Institute for Health Research in 2006.
