WHO to focus on the needs of young peopleMonday 21st September 2009 Improving health services for young people is the prime focus of a World Health Organisation (WHO) summit in Edinburgh being hosted by NHS Health Scotland.Delegates from across Europe will look at school health services and the the legal, regulatory barriers that often prevent young people from accessing adequate healthcare. Enis Baris, WHO director of country health systems, reports that adolescents are often unwilling to talk about their health needs. NHS Health Scotland spokeswoman Margaret Burns says that the summit is a "unique opportunity" for the 120 delegates to share experiences and pool their learning. She says: "We will be looking at the recommendation from this meeting with a view to continuous improvement across health services for young people in Scotland."
