Lockdown increased incidents of domestic abuse and reduced the opportunities for clinicians to uncover it. Dr Vasumathy Sivarajasingam explains how to spot the signs and offer help.

- understand what stage victims are at and whether they are ready to disclose domestic abuse.
- be hypervigilant of any signs of abuse, whether to an adult or a child.
- know how it is best to speak to a patient, including checking they are alone when you speak to them or whether they need an interpreter.
