Queen’s Nurse completes year-long fundraising quest for community nurses
A Queen’s Nurse has completed a gruelling year of monthly physical challenges to raise money for nurses in need.
Rebecca ‘Becks’ Daniels, community children’s nursing project lead at the Queen’s Institute of Community Nursing (QICN), took on 12 fundraising challenges in 12 months throughout 2025, raising nearly £3,000 for the charity’s Support for Nurses programme.
The initiative provides financial and wellbeing support to nurses across the UK.
Ms Daniels ran half marathons, swam open water races, completed squat and plank challenges, and finished the year with two festive 5k runs in December.
‘The idea was to push myself while also encouraging people to recognise the incredible strength and compassion within our community nursing workforce,’ she said.
‘Every step, stroke and plank was for colleagues who give so much to others. I was so grateful to be joined by friends and colleagues of the QICN.
‘Thank you to everyone who supported me!’ Ms Daniels added.
