Candidates announced for first ever open election to nurses’ union

The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) has announced the candidates who will stand for election to the new, democratically elected RCN Trade Union Committee.

The candidates from each of the regions can be seen here.

This is the first time that the RCN will have a fully-publically elected committee accountable for nursing union activity.

The trade union committee will be accountable to the RCN Council and will make decisions on its behalf in regards to all the RCN’s trade union functions and activities.

The election to select the candidates who will make it onto the committee will begin on Monday 4 September and close on Wednesday 4 October.

RCN-registered nurses have the opportunity to object to any of the election canidates until Friday 11 August through the website.
