Entries closing soon for this year’s General Practice Awards

Nurses working across general practice have until Sunday 31 May to submit their entries to this year’s General Practice Awards.

Now in its 18th year, the awards recognise the people, teams and organisations doing important work across primary care.

Last year’s Nurse of the Year award went to Dr Jennifer Loke, nurse consultant at Park View Surgery, who was recognised for transforming the practice in the East Riding of Yorkshire from one facing significant challenges into a thriving service.

While Nursing in Practice readers may be especially interested in the nursing categories, the awards are open across the full breadth of primary care. That means readers can also nominate colleagues and teams working in general practice, practice management, pharmacy, PCNs, workforce wellbeing, sustainability and clinical improvement, as well as supplier organisations supporting the sector.

The awards cover a range of work across primary care, including patient care, clinical improvement, teamwork, leadership and innovation.

Strong entries should showcase the impact of their work. This could include benefits for patients, service users or staff, new ways of working, data, shared learning, future plans or testimonials from patients, colleagues or partners.

There is still time to prepare an entry before the deadline. The Entry Submission Guide sets out what entrants will be asked in the online form, including the shortlist name, overview and full story sections, plus character limits and tips on what to include.

Entries close on Sunday 31 May 2026.
