Health bosses are hoping a recruitment film will attract more trainees to become general practice nurses.
Health Education England (HEE) has launched ‘A day in the life of a general practice nurse‘ to encourage more trainees and nurses in secondary care to consider careers in general practice.

The short film follows nurse Anna Reed during her working day, doing blood tests, giving travel health advice and inoculating a baby.
The film shows pactice nursing as a dynamic and flexible role with sociable hours.
HEE published The General Practice Nursing Development Plan in March as part of its scheme to tackle nursing shortages.
The new film is part of its plans to help educate student nurses about nursing opportunities outside of hospitals.
The general practice nursing workforce must be at the forefront of leading change by delivering better health outcomes in primary care, and by making primary care ‘the place to be’ for ambitious nurses,’ HEE said.
‘In our mandate, we were asked to help recruit 5,000 additional multi-professional staff in primary care.’
