Uber offers discounted rides and food for NHS nurses on Christmas Day

Nurses with an NHS email address will be able to claim discounted taxi rides and food vouchers this Christmas, as part of an annual campaign by Uber.

Those behind the initiative, which is in its ninth year running, said it was Uber’s way of expressing how ‘immensely grateful we are for the vital work of the healthcare sector both at Christmas and throughout the year’.

NHS staff, and Health and Social Care (HSC) staff in Northern Ireland, will be able to claim £10 off two Uber rides on Christmas day, as well as a £10 Uber Eats discount to use towards a meal or groceries.

To receive the discounts, NHS and HSC staff must ensure their Uber account is linked to their official NHS email address by 23.59 on 21 December.

Those eligible will receive a promotional code via email to redeem for Uber and Uber Eats. Codes must be used on 25th December 2025 and are subject to Uber’s terms and conditions.

Andrew Brem, general manager at Uber UK, said: ‘We are all indebted to the incredible NHS and HSC workers who selflessly care for the nation over the festive season.

‘This initiative is simply our way of expressing how immensely grateful we are for the vital work of the healthcare sector both at Christmas and throughout the year.’

Helen Garnett, a paediatric intensive care nurse said: ‘Getting home from a shift at the hospital is always more difficult on Christmas Day.

‘It’s nice to know that Uber is gifting us some much-needed time to put our feet up and enjoy a delicious meal.’
