Healthcare rated third best job for mothers returning to work

Healthcare has been ranked third out of 11 in a league table of the best jobs for mothers returning to work, according to a survey by the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA).

However, the same survey revealed that just 37% of mothers working in healthcare felt they were "treated like an equal" on returning to work in the sector.

And a mere 16% of mothers working in healthcare felt they had sufficient opportunities to develop their careers.

Researchers asked 2,000 mothers across the UK which kind of jobs they felt were most suitable for women returning to work after a career break. They also asked how they felt they were treated upon their return to work.

According to the survey, 90% of healthcare workers are looking for a more flexible approach to work.

Teaching topped the poll, closely followed by the catering, retail and leisure industries, with the legal profession coming in last.
