New online resource for people with eating disorders

New online resource for people with eating disorders

The leading UK eating disorders charity, beat, has successfully gained funding through Comic Relief to initiate an exciting pilot for an online Recovery Club service for young people suffering from an eating disorder.

The monthly club, which will be launched this November, will run for six months enabling young people to benefit from the support of their peers and to feel comfortable discussing their concerns and fears about treatment and the recovery process.

By hosting regular recovery clubs facilitated by young people who are already in the recovery process or recovered from an eating disorder and professionals working in the eating disorders field, beat hopes to demystify professional treatment and empower young people to feel confident in seeking help early.

The Recovery Club is not intended as a substitute for medical or professional support, but as an extension of beat's existing resources in which it hopes to continue to support and encourage and empower young people to explore the options available to them.
