A mental health nurse has been struck off the Nursing and Midwifery Council register, after admitting making and possessing indecent images of children.
Nicholas Howard was employed by Five Boroughs Partnership NHS Trust but has been struck off and given an interim suspension order, according to a report by Warrington Guardian.
Howard, from Lancashire, pleaded guilty to nine counts of making an indecent image of a child, three counts of possessing an indecent image of a child and one count of possessing an extreme pornographic image at Preston Crown Court on November 25 2014.
A report from the NMC said: “The panel determined that the charges are very serious. The panel has borne in mind that its primary function is to protect patients and the wider public interest which includes maintaining confidence in the nursing profession and upholding proper standards of conduct and behaviour.
“Having regard to all of the above, the panel is satisfied that Mr Howard’s fitness to practice is currently impaired,” the report added.
He was sentenced to a three-year community order and ordered to attend an internet sex offender’s treatment programme, given a sexual offences prevention order for 10 years and a five year sex offenders notice.
