Chickenpox vaccination and menopause are among the hot topics set to be discussed at the free-to-attend event Nursing in Practice London this spring.

Nurses working in the primary and community care sectors can access the latest professional and clinical updates on these and many other areas of practice at London’s Business Design Centre on Thursday 30 April.

Registration for this exclusive event is now open, with the opportunity to gain up to five CPD hours in a full day of expert learning, as well as the chance to network with hundreds of primary and community care nurses.

Helen Donovan, independent nurse consultant and specialist immunisation nurse, will discuss the introduction of chickenpox immunisation within the MMRV programme, along with other vaccine schedule changes – a subject covered in a recent Nursing in Practice podcast episode.

The final session of the day will see advanced nurse practitioner Ruth Bailey, of Havens Health Primary care, offering practical guidance for helping women navigate the menopause, from recognising common symptoms to dealing with health risks and lifestyle adjustments  –  also the subject of a podcast episode featuring Ms Bailey herself.

Other topics covered in a programme packed with expert knowledge include inhaler technique and optimisation, ADHD and autism recognition and management, diabetes medication and sexual health.

The sessions will run from 9.30am until 4pm, with a focus on imparting practical knowledge that primary and community care nurses can apply and share with teams immediately.

With the current onus on shifting care out of hospitals and into the community, Nursing in Practice London is designed to support nurses in taking on the increased responsibility that comes with this.
